Penobscot dam removal gets $1M boost

Two Maine projects will get $1.3 million in federal conservation grants, with $1 million to help the Penobscot River Restoration Trust's dam removal efforts on that northern Maine waterway.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced the grants Tuesday. The Harpswell Heritage Land Trust and Maine Coastal Heritage Land Trust are receiving $300,000 to acquire conservation land on White's Island.
