Pine State Trading gets liquor admin contract

The Augusta-based Pine State Trading Co. has won a 10-year contract for administering the state’s wholesale liquor distribution operation. In a press release, the state’s Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations said it expects the deal will generate $450 million in revenue over the contract term.

Pine State, which worked as a subcontractor of Maine Beverage Co. under the state’s previous 10-year liquor wholesale deal, was competing with All Maine Spirits LLC for the administrative portion of the state contract.

Pine State has also bid on a contract to provide marketing services for the state liquor operation, along with bidders CD&M Communications of Portland and Dirigo Spirit LLC of Cumberland. The marketing portion of the contract is pending a review by state officials.
