Commercial interior design firm ID. +Collective has moved from Commercial Street to a new location at 75 York St. in Portland.
April Elaine Powell, the firm's founder and creative director, said she plans to hire an architectural interior designer, a sourcing specialist and two studio coordinators in the next couple of months. The design team will continue to provide commercial and interior design to both current and new clients during the build-out.
The studio is scheduled to open in December, with a goal of being fully operational by the end of January 2023.
The new location will have space for employees. It will also have a shared open studio space for designers, with options that include on-demand, weekly and monthly subscriptions. The location includes a computer lab and message service.
"We are excited to be offering support for makers, artists, service providers and tradespeople," she told Mainebiz.
The "open studio space" will have co-working aspects, with a fee structure.
Fees will start at $75 per year and the shared design studio for designers and DIY business owners. Options will include on-demand subscriptions for $40 per day, $220 weekly or $810 per month, Powell said.
"The new location will be designed to foster a more collaborative relationship between business owners and the design-build industry," Powell said.
