Portland officials give the OK to Ocean Avenue solar project
Portland City Council gave the green light to the proposed development of a solar array atop the former Ocean Avenue landfill site on Wednesday night.
With that vote, Portland’s city manager will now negotiate an agreement with the Portland-based ReVision Energy to install the 660 kilowatt solar power array, which Councilor Jon Hinck said continues the city’s commitment to clean energy, according to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network.
“I saw a resolution in the city council minutes of June 14, 1999, declaring that the city of Portland favors solar power and will continue to find ways to bring solar power to the citizens of Portland, Maine,” said Hinck, according to the BDN.
