Racino makes staff changes

Maine's only racino is shuffling staff, hoping to minimize layoffs in an increasingly weak economy.
Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway spokeswoman Amy Kenney said the "reallocation of staff" was a belt-tightening decision in response to a slumping economy, reported the Bangor Daily News. She said an unspecified number of layoffs are expected at the Bangor racino because people are more careful with their disposable incomes.
The state's Office of Fiscal and Program Review, estimated last month that revenues from the racino will be down $3.6 million this year and that revenues for the two-year budget cycle should be reduced by about $4.5 million a year.
