Red Shield employees head back to work

About 160 workers will be heading back to work at the former Red Shield Environmental pulp mill in Old Town now that the court-approved sale of the mill to a New York-based private equity firm is final.

A week and a half after Patriarch Partners made its winning bid of $19 million for the Old Town mill, the sale is now official and workers are getting the call to return to work, according to the Bangor Daily News. The first employees will return as soon as Friday and the first pulp dryer is scheduled to be operating again by Nov. 14, according to the paper.

The mill shut its doors and laid off its 160 workers after it declared bankruptcy in June.
