Richardson Hollow pays up

Richardson Hollow Mental Health Services, a defunct social services agency in Lewiston, has agreed to pay 126 former employees roughly $70,000 in unpaid back wages and $120,000 in vacation pay.

The Maine attorney general's office last October filed a suit against Richardson Hollow after the health agency, which had about 1,000 clients, abruptly folded a month prior.

The Department of Labor has begun processing reimbursement checks for employees who were not compensated for their final week of work and vacation time. The checks will come from the state's Wage Assurance Fund and cover back pay only; the proceeds from the sale of Richardson Hollow's assets will be distributed for vacation time and also will reimburse the Wage Assurance Fund, according to a state government press release.
