SMRT gets New Hampshire prison contract
The Portland-based firm SMRT Inc. has won a $2.4 million contract with the state of New Hampshire to design a women’s prison there.
The Associated Press reported the contract was approved during a meeting Wednesday. The contract calls for the company to provide plans for the new prison in 2014.
The 224-bed, $38 million prison and transitional facility will be located near the men’s prison in Concord, N.H. The Portland company previously designed the women’s unit at the Maine Correctional Center and four county jails in New Hampshire.
