Rock Row, the 110-acre complex of shops, restaurants, apartments, offices, and medical space under development in Westbrook, continues expanding. A cosmetic, reconstructive and hand surgery provider has signed a long-term lease to join Rock Row’s Medical and Research Campus, according to a news release Monday.
Plastic and Hand Surgical Associates will operate a surgery center, accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory HealthCare, as well as Skin Solutions, a medical-grade skin care center.
“This is a unique concept that we believe will significantly benefit people throughout the region. It will make high-quality care easily accessible, with concierge service for patients like no other facility in the region,” said Dr. Sirish Maddali, president of Plastic and Hand Surgical Associates.
The surgical practice, which for now is based in South Portland, includes eight board-certified plastic surgeons who can perform advanced cosmetic surgery, reconstructive procedures, and a range of treatments to address various hand conditions.
“We are excited to welcome Plastic and Hand Surgical Associates to the growing list of innovative companies and providers who share our vision of the future of health care in Maine,” said Josh Levy, CEO and owner of Waterstone Properties Group, the Needham, Mass.-based developer of Rock Row.
The Rock Row Medical & Research Campus, scheduled to open next year, will be anchored by New England Cancer Specialists, a private medical oncology group and cancer care provider. As part of its move to Rock Row, the practice will introduce a new cancer genetics program and will offer services including cancer risk assessment, genetic counseling, lifestyle counseling and nutritional support, and ongoing screenings, monitoring, and follow-up support.
To incorporate this new program into the development, New England Cancer Specialists has signed a 20-year lease for additional space and will take over another floor of the Rock Row Medical and Research Campus, the developers said.
The campus will also be home to the Dempsey Center, which will relocate from its South Portland office, and Saco Bay Physical Therapy, which will open a new location there this year. In November, Rayus Radiology, owned by private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management LLC, announced that it will also open a location at Rock Row’s medical campus.
As of October, 70% of the medical campus has been leased, Waterstone said.
An earlier phase of the $600 million Rock Row development is anchored by a Market Basket supermarket, and includes storefronts for REI, Chase, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Cowbell and other brands.
