With the spring semester start at the University of Maine at Augusta right around the corner, the school will host "On the Spot Admit Day" at multiple locations on Jan. 8.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., admissions representatives will be available to help a wide range of potential UMA students — including recent high school graduates, transfer students and working adults — complete their applications. The Admit Day sessions are being offered in Augusta, Bangor, Brunswick, East Millinocket, Ellsworth, Houlton, Lewiston, Rockland, Rumford, Saco, and South Paris.
In addition, the reps can help applicants sign up for placement tests if needed, begin the financial aid process, and enroll in spring classes. Transfer students can also receive an unofficial transfer evaluation.
There are many financial scholarships available for both new and returning students, and tuition waivers are available for high school juniors and seniors as well as senior citizens, the school said in a news release.
Everyone who attends and registers for a class will be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship. There is no application fee, and students should bring official copies of transcripts if possible.
Interested students can also schedule an advising appointment for another time if they prefer.
Spring semester starts Jan. 21. Register for the Jan. 8 event and find out more online.
