Orono-based University Credit Union has hired Mandy Austin as vice president of finance.
In her new role, Austin will join the senior leadership team. She will oversee the credit union’s financial operations and serve as the primary liaison between the credit union, external auditors and regulatory authorities in the accounting and finance sectors.
In addition, Austin will work with other senior managers to develop strategic initiatives to further growth and enhance member services.
“Strong financial operations are key to delivering quality, competitive products and services to UCU members who rely on us for their financial needs through every stage of life,” said Renee Ouellette, president and CEO of University Credit Union.
“Mandy brings substantial experience and expertise to our financial operations, which, as a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, means UCU can deliver better returns, better service and a better overall credit union experience."
Austin joins University Credit Union with over two decades of financial management experience, most recently serving as director of administration at Bison Transport USA, formerly Hartt Transportation Systems.
There, she oversaw financial operations across multiple locations and held several management positions, including accounting manager and senior finance manager.
Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maine at Augusta.
Established on the University of Maine campus in 1967, University Credit Union has branches in Bangor, Farmington, Gorham, Orono, Portland, Presque Isle and Machias. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, the credit union returns its profits to members.
University Credit Union ranks No. 6 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, with assets of $476.8 million, according to the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists. The credit union currently has about 28,800 members.
