VIP Tires & Service, an Auburn-based company with 56 locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, announced this week that Timothy Winkeler has been promoted to president in addition to his current role as COO.
He also has been appointed to the company’s board of directors. In his new position, Winkeler will be responsible for overseeing all functions at VIP.
John Quirk will assume the role of chairman and CEO.
“It is with great confidence and that I promote Tim to president and COO,” Quirk said in a news release. “Tim has brought tremendous enthusiasm and energy to his operational leadership role at VIP. He has led VIP’s cultural transformation into a leading professional service organization and has inspired us all. In his new role, Tim will continue to shape all aspects of VIP’s business.”
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with an industrial engineering degree, Winkeler began his career in the automotive aftermarket and went to work for Dana Corp. as an engineering manager. While working, he received his MBA from Oklahoma City University. Winkeler held several positions with Dana and eventually worked his way up to plant manager, overseeing the Oklahoma City WIX Filtration Manufacturing Plant.
He joined VIP in May 2010 as vice president of merchandising and, in 2013, was promoted to chief operating officer.
