Students attending Husson University in Bangor will no longer have to rely on daydreaming in the middle of a lecture to find themselves in another world — thanks to a $1 million donation from an anonymous donor that will be used to create a virtual reality space.
Husson’s upcoming new interdisciplinary virtual reality learning space — which will be a part of the Innovation Wing at the university’s proposed new College of Business building — will be dedicated to the conceptualization, marketing, management and production of virtual reality presentations by students enrolled in the private university’s New England School of Communications and College of Business.
“Virtual reality has so many workplace applications. Marketing, health care, education, science and other disciplines could all one day be using virtual reality to help increase their organization’s productivity and profitability,” Marie Hansen, dean of Husson University College of Business, said in a statement. “Technology like this helps keep NESCom students current and ensures that they’ll be work-ready upon graduation.”
