South Portland-based coffee shop chain Aroma Joe’s has opened a location in Kittery at 523 U.S. Route 1, the brand's second site in the popular shopping area.
The 1,010-square-foot walk-up and drive-thru branch features handcrafted coffee, espresso, energy drinks, soft drinks and food options.
The franchised branch is owned and operated by Maryna Shuliakouskaya, Aroma Joe's CEO Loren Goodridge, Mark Carey and Kaitlyn Burnell. The team collectively owns eight other locations in Maine.
“Six years ago, when I started at Aroma Joe’s, I would never have imagined that this is where life would take me,” said Burnell. “I fell in love with our brand and what we stand for as a company. I was determined to live out our mission statement of ‘Positively Impacting people.’ Today my second franchise opened. I truly couldn’t have done it without my partners, my family and every single one of my employees.”
The new Kittery coffee stop is one of several new franchises opening this year.
Aroma Joe’s recently celebrated the opening of its milestone 100th location in Waterbury, Conn. Of the roughly 4,200 franchise brands are in the U.S., only 16% have 100 locations or more.
Besides Maine, Aroma Joe's is in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Florida, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York, with plans to open shops in other Eastern states. The brand has been around since 2000.
DeStefano & Associates, of Portsmouth, N.H., managed construction of the latest Kittery shop.
