Starting this weekend, Bangor's Hollywood Casino will stay open all weekend long, the gaming business announced Tuesday, as it tries to fill job openings that range from hosting to dealing.
The casino is part of the Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway entertainment and hospitality complex owned by Wyomissing, Pa.-based Penn National Gaming Inc. (Nasdaq: PENN). It claims to be America's largest regional gaming operator with a total of 42 facilities in 19 jurisdictions.
Hollywood Casino's gaming floor consists of nearly 800 slot machines, Maine's only live poker room with four poker tables, 12 additional game tables and a racetrack simulcast betting parlor.
There are also three restaurants as well as live music at both the Sound Stage Lounge and the Hops House 99 eatery on weekends.
Austin Muchemore, general manager of Hollywood Casino in Bangor, said in Tuesday's news release that the extended hours were in response to customer requests.
"We are answering that call by extending our hours to keep the gaming floor open all weekend long," he said. "When we open our doors Friday morning at 8 a.m., we won't close them again until late Sunday night at 3 a.m."
He also gave a plug for the job opportunities posted online with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, adding that Hollywood Casino "has a lot of activity around us right now and it’s an exciting time to be here.”
More than 20 openings are currently listed, including one posted five days ago for a buffet cashier and host, which offers a $500 sign-on bonus.
