His civic involvement has included working with numerous non-profits: The Genesis Fund, United Voice Community Land Trust home ownership program, Main Street Bath, Patten Free Library, Bath Rotary Charitable Trust and Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. He has also worked with the City of Bath on the Community Development Block Grant Committee, Housing Loan Review Committee, Waterfront Park Committee and the Bath Development Corporation.
MaineHousing, a quasi-independent authority, is a $1.6 billion financial institution with a $13 million budget funded with the difference between the interest it receives on its mortgages and the interest it pays to investors as well as federal grants. Its operations are not funded by the state’s taxpayers. It is governed by a 10-member board of commissioners and overseen by the Maine Legislature.
