Canada invests $2.5M in Maine-Nova Scotia ferry

The operator of the ferry that travels between Nova Scotia and Maine is getting some financial support from the Canadian province.

Nova Scotia is investing $2.5 million in Bay Ferries, the operator of The CAT ferry, which makes daily runs in the summer between Portland, Bar Harbor and Yarmouth, N.S., according to the Halifax Chronicle Herald. The investment will be used for operating and capital costs, as well as help combat waning tourism rates during "a period of challenging marketing conditions for Canada and U.S. travel," Mark MacDonald, Bay Ferries president and CEO, told the paper.
