Duncan disbarred for life
The Maine Supreme Judicial Court last week barred John Duncan, the former Verrill Dana attorney who plead guilty to stealing $300,000 from clients and the firm between 1997 and 2007, from practicing law in the state for the rest of his life.
The lifetime disbarment is the most severe professional sanction ever imposed on a Maine attorney, according to the Portland Press Herald. The decision essentially ends Duncan's law career.
