Hancock Lumber’s Brunswick location is undergoing a rebuild that will expand the decades-old store at 158 Church Road up to 30,000-square-feet by November.
The new building will house a hardware store, drive-through indoor lumberyard, kitchen design showroom and office spaces.
Erin Plummer, chief marketing officer for Hancock, said plans also call for doubling the millwork warehouse building, adding 20,000 square feet of "undercover" outdoor lumber storage and expanding parking.
“Hancock Lumber continually reinvests back into the business to improve the employee and customer experiences," Plummer said. "Our Brunswick rebuild is a generational project designed for decades to come—our goal is to modernize the experience and build a facility that will last into the next generation.”
Falmouth-based Penobscot General Contractors, which has redeveloped Hancock properties in Augusta and Yarmouth, is managing the build.
The business remains open during construction.
Hancock Lumber, which is based in Casco, has 690 employees and 18 locations. Founded in 1848, it is still family owned. It is also Maine's largest woman-owned business, according to the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
