Westbrook-based Critical Alert Systems, a health care messaging services company, has acquired Intego Systems of Florida. Intego Systems develops nurse call systems and software for hospital-patient communication.
Intego will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Critical Alert Systems and renamed Intego Software, according to a press release. Its headquarters will remain in Jacksonville, Fla. Intego Founder Charles Bell will become an equity partner of Critical Alert Systems as chief strategy and business development officer. Ed Meyercord, CEO of Critical Alert Systems, said the acquisition will allow the company “to offer a more robust and fully integrated range of communications and critical messaging services.”
Critical Alert Systems provides messaging services through its subsidiaries to more than 300 health care facilities in the Northeast and south-central United States. The company was formed in 2010 to acquire the assets of Northeast Paging/UCOM, the leading medical paging company in New England. It operates as UCOM Paging in the Northeast and TeleTouch Paging in the south-central United States.
Intego services more than 200 health care organizations, offering products for communication between patients and hospital staff for faster response times, higher patient quality of care and greater patient satisfaction, according to the release.
