Here are the 2024 ‘Best Places to Work in Maine’

The employers named to this year's list of the "Best Places to Work in Maine" include some that have consistently made the cut, including Machias Savings Bank, Allagash Brewing Co. and Cianbro.
But there are newcomers on the 2024 roster too, like Purdy Powers & Co., a Portland accounting firm.
In total, 134 businesses and other organizations are on the list, the same number as in 2023.
The competitive selection of the list, now in its 19th year, was made by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group and Minneapolis-based BridgeTower Media. Names of the winning employers, in three categories of size, were released Monday.
To be considered, nominees had to be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity that is at least one year old, employ at least 15 full- or part-time workers in Maine, and operate a brick-and-mortar facility in the state.
The winners were selected according to two criteria: an evaluation of each nominee's workplace policies, practices and demographics, worth approximately 25% of the evaluation score, and an employee survey, which made up 75% of the score.
“The 2024 Best Places to Work in Maine have created workplaces that inspire success. They put their employees’ welfare first, creating a positive work environment for all,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media for the east division.
The scores determined the top employers and their numerical rankings, which will be announced Oct. 8 in an evening ceremony at the Augusta Civic Center.
