Kaplan Thompson Architects, a sustainable architecture and design firm based in Portland, has promoted its director of operations and marketing to the role of principal.
Adrienne Stauffer joins founding partners Phil Kaplan and Jesse Thompson as principals, and will be responsible for the non-architectural aspects of the firm.
Stauffer joined the firm in 2012 as an office manager and was promoted to director of operations and marketing in 2015.
“Our group would not be who we are without Adrienne, and we are deeply grateful that she will be joining us at the top of the bill in all future endeavors,” said Kaplan. “Her brilliant, strategic mind, her unwavering integrity, and her deeply empathetic nature have earned her the respect and admiration of everyone who is privileged enough to work with her.”
In addition to her role at Kaplan Thompson Architects, she is an active participant and co-facilitator in the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s BuildingEnergy Bottom Lines program, a business development initiative that uses a peer coaching model to advance companies in profitability, sustainability and impact.
“I’m humbled, grateful, and excited to continue working with our team of talented and mission-driven designers to make a positive impact in the built environment,” said Stauffer. “Being part of a leadership team that is committed to the triple bottom lines of people, planet, and prosperity is truly an honor and I look forward to further cementing the firm’s position as a leader in sustainable architecture.”
Kaplan Thompson Architects was founded in 2006. It focuses on residential new construction and renovations, multi-family homes, community spaces and educational facilities, and operates primarily in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont.
The firm ranks No. 15 among Maine’s largest architecture firms, based on the number of Maine architects, according to the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
