Ktaadn Resorts breaks ground on first phase
A Millinocket businessman's planned eco-tourism resort near Millinocket Lake got a start last week with approval of a $2 million renovation of an existing sporting camp.
Matt Polstein, owner of New England Outdoor Center and a Millinocket town councilman, last week began a $2 million expansion to another of his businesses, Twin Pines Camps LLC, after the Land Use Regulation Commission issued him a development permit, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The Twin Pines expansion is the first phase of Polstein's planned multi-phase $65 million Ktaadn Resorts, which includes an 80-room lodge, 20 resort homes, conference center, a 35-lot subdivision, more than a dozen rental cabins and seven family compounds near Millinocket Lake, the paper said. LURC unanimously approved rezoning 244 acres for the project in June 2007.
