A floating theme park with 30 bumper cars, a 30-foot rock-climbing wall and a 220-foot outdoor movie screen called Portland home on Sunday when Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas docked at the Ocean Gateway.
In addition to the amenities that seem more likely to be a part of Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach, the 1,141-foot-long ship also brought over 4,905 passengers to Maine’s most populated city.
The $940 million Anthem of the Seas arrived in Portland on Sunday morning where is spent the day before departing the gateway at 5 p.m.
As reported in May, at least 121 total cruise ship visits from 30 different vessels are expected this year at Maine's busiest cruise ship port in Bar Harbor. Portland, the state's second-busiest cruise ship port, is expected to get 77 total cruise ship visits, bringing over 106,000 total passengers to the city, according to a May release from CruiseMaine.
