L.L.Bean has voluntarily recalled approximately 3,000 snowshoes made in Taiwan that were sold between November 2016 and February 2017.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that the recall involves the L.L.Bean Adventure Adjustable Snowshoes 25-to-30 inches and the L.L.Bean Adventure Adjustable Snowshoe Package 25-to-30 inches. “The plastic material on the snowshoes can weaken and break during use, posing a fall hazard to users,” the CPSC reported.

The recalled snowshoes have an aluminum frame with Boa bindings and a deck made from polyethylene with “ADVENTURE ADJ 25-30” printed on the side and “L.L.Bean” printed on the front, the CPSC reported. They were sold in red (Carbon Chili) and blue (Glacier/Teal) and can be worn with men’s or women’s winter boots. The recalled snowshoe package includes the recalled snowshoes, adjustable snowshoe poles and a bag.

CPSC reported that L.L.Bean had received four reports of the plastic on the snowshoes cracking, adding that “no injuries have been reported.”

It advises consumers to immediately stop using the snowshoes and to contact L.L.Bean at 1-800-555-9717 or online at www.llbean.com for a full $170 refund for the snowshoes and $200 for the snowshoe package. Consumers are advised to click on “Recall and Safety Info” at the bottom of L.L.Bean’s web page for more information.
