Christina "Chrissi" Maguire, president and CEO of Mount Desert Island Hospital in Downeast Maine, will succeed Crystal Landry as board chair of the Maine Hospital Association, starting July 1.
Maguire was formally installed in her new role Wednesday evening in Rockport at the Augusta-based group’s summer forum.
"Chrissi is a proven leader who combines a keen intellect, broad experience and a gracious personality" Steven Michaud, president of the Maine Hospital Association, told Mainebiz. "All the members of the Maine Hospital Association look forward to Chrissi’s year of leadership as we confront the very challenging circumstances that we face in delivering care to our communities."
Landry, who was recognized as a Mainebiz Woman to Watch in 2021, recently announced plans to step down from her role as CEO of Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln so that she could spend more time with family.
With a background in finance, accounting, project management and strategic planning, Maguire has worked at MDI Hospital for more than a dozen years and has led the institution since 2021.
Maguire has also served as the chair of the Maine Hospital Association’s Public Policy Council and Healthcare Finance Council. She has been the secretary of the Maine chapters of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the National HFMA Governance Task Force; chair of the CFO Council for the Critical Access Hospitals; and a member of the State of Maine SIM Grant Steering Committee, Community Care Partnership of Maine Board of Managers, and the Task Force on Pricing and Transparency.
She has also been actively involved in the Downeast Treatment Center and Downeast COVID-19 Taskforce, and has served as the treasurer of the Maine Rural Health Collaborative LLC.
Steven G. Littleson, CEO of Central Maine Healthcare, is the chair-elect of the Maine Hospital Association. Nate Howell, CEO of MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, is the new treasurer; and Dr. Patrick Taylor, CEO of York Hospital, is the new board secretary.
The at-large board members are Shauna Cameron, CEO of Houlton Regional Hospital; Randy Clark, president of Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital; Trampas Hutches, regional president, Mountain Region, MaineHealth; Stephany Jacques, president of Bridgton and Rumford hospitals; Dr. Andy Mueller, MaineHealth CEO; Bob Peterson, CEO of Millinocket Regional Hospital; Charlie Therrien, Northern Light Mercy Hospital president; and Marie Vienneau, president of Northern Light C.A. Dean and Mayo hospitals.
