The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy has issued its first recall of cannabis products.
On Tuesday the office announced certain products from the company Cannabis Cured failed required tests for yeast and mold.
The agency said recall includes pre-roll strains called GG-4 and Portal and the pre-roll and cannabis flower strain Jelly Dountz. The agency's website provides specific batch numbers.
The recalled products were sold at eight Cannabis Cured stores. The stores are in Bangor, Carrabassett Valley, Damariscotta, Fairfield, Stratton, Thomaston, Northport and its Eliot location, which is part of the area's "Green Mile," a cluster of retail and medical marijuana dispensaries.
All cannabis packages purchased in Maine must have a label indicating the product's batch number. The MOCP says that consumers who are concerned should check this label to see if it is included in the recall.
The affected products were reportedly sold between Aug. 27 and Sept. 9.
The MOCP advises anyone who has bought the recalled cannabis to return the products to the retailer who made the sale or dispose of them. Additionally, the office warns that any consumer who has ingested these products and is experiencing symptoms or adverse reactions should contact a physician immediately.
According to the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy, smoking marijuana containing unsafe levels of mold can lead to sinus issues, allergies, headaches, dizziness or fatigue.
The Office of Cannabis Policy said in the prepared release that it conducted the tests to investigate Cannabis Cured for irregular mandatory testing. They began taking and testing samples from affected batches.
