Maine Realtor of the Year is longtime industry leader

The Maine Association of Realtors named Richard “Sandy” Cox Jr. as its Realtor of  the Year.

Cox has been a Realtor since 2003 and is currently affiliated with the New England Real Estate Company in Camden. 

He served as president of his local Realtor board and council four times and is his local board treasurer, serving four additional years in the past.

He has served as a Maine Association of Realtors director for five years and has been a longstanding member of the association's professional standards committee. 

Cox served as a Maine Listings (Multiple Listing Service) director for seven years, was president in 2018 and continues to serve on its policies and procedures and technology committees.

Cox has been active in his local Rotary Club for 48 years and is serving assistant governor for his region. He serves as a director on the Board of Quarry Hill Independent Living and as a director for MidCoast Housing Trust. 

Cox also serves the PAWS Animal Adoption Center, the Camden YMCA and the Penobscot Bay Chamber of Commerce. 

Cox was named local Realtor of the Year in 2008. In 2018, he was honored as the Penobscot Bay Chamber Community Person of the Year. 

The state Realtor of the Year recipient is chosen from among the 12 nominees of the local Realtor associations and more than 6,400 Realtors in Maine. The award recognizes a Realtors for their contributions to the real estate profession on state, local and national levels.

"He truly is an example of a person who gives back to his community in so many ways,” said Victoria Condon, president of the Pen Bay Council. “His commitment to service and to helping others shines through in everything he does, making him incredibly deserving of this honor."
