The state’s online job listing service has reached an “all-time high,” with more than 10,000 job positions listed in sectors such as health care, manufacturing and business services.
The Maine Department of Labor said that Maine’s Job Bank, which is available at http://www.mainecareercenter.com, reached 10,139 job listings as of Friday. The online service is provided through the state department.
L & A Tire Co. was listed among employers looking for the largest number of workers, posting openings for 69 installation technicians and 39 Automotive Service Excellence technicians statewide. U.S. Security Associates is looking for 40 security officers in the Falmouth area; Carbonite Inc., for 25 technical support representatives in the Lewiston area; and Harbor’s Maine Lobster LLC, for 20 seafood processors in the Rockland area.
Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette said in a prepared statement that Maine’s Job Bank is used to help find work for laid-off, unemployed or underemployed workers.
“We remind employers that the department’s first place to look for jobs for affected workers is Maine's Job Bank,” she said. “Here they can post and access their account 24/7 at no charge. There is also no cost to job seekers to search or post their resumes.”
