Massachusetts-based grocery store chain Market Basket will open its third Maine store in Topsham next week.
The 80,000-square-foot supermarket will open June 14 at 169 Topsham Fair Mall Road.
The store's owner, Tewksbury, Mass.-based DeMoulas Super Markets Inc., says the new branch will offer 50,000 grocery items. It will also include a butcher shop, take-out kitchen, and a cafe with seating for customers to enjoy a wide selection of food.
“Market Basket is eager to join the greater Topsham community and we appreciate the warm welcome and support we have received to date,” said Arthur T. Demoulas, the CEO of Market Basket.
“This is a great opportunity for Market Basket to provide additional shopping options to the community, in addition to approximately 300 new jobs for new and existing associates to build successful careers,” he continued.
“It’s been wonderful to hear from community members about how eager they are for us to open our doors; we can’t wait to welcome them on June 14.”
This will be Market Basket’s 90th location. The company began at a single store in Lowell, Mass., in 1917. Maine currently has two Market Basket stores, at 90 Rock Row in Westbrook and at 220 Mariner Way in Biddeford.
