Wolf Cove Inn in Poland announced that it was named a winner in the “2021 TripSavvy Editors’ Choice Awards” in the Best for Romance category.
MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor said that James Godwin, scientist, had his research paper, “Identification of the Adult Hematopoietic Liver as the Primary Reservoir for the Recruitment of Pro-regenerative Macrophages Required for Salamander Limb Regeneration,” published in the journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology.
Brown, Holmes & Milliken Agency in Ellsworth announced that Melanie Wyman was recognized by the Maine Insurance Agents Association as its “2021 Young Insurance Professional of the Year.”
Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said it was ranked nationally for its health care practice (Tier 2) and had 49 of its Maine-based metropolitan practice areas recognized by the U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers. In addition, the firm announced it had 19 of its Maine-based lawyers listed in the 2021 edition of New England Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Fifteen were selected as Super Lawyers while four were named Rising Stars.
SIGCO, a glass fabrication company in Westbrook, won the “Pretreatment Excellence Award” at the Maine Water Environment Association’s Fall Convention. The company worked with the city of Westbrook and the Portland Water District to install a filtration pretreatment system to remove glass fines from the water prior to discharge to the sewer.
Aroostook County Action Program honored Mary Duff, Randy Rattray, Sue Powers and Linda Slauenwhite for 40 years of service to the organization. The agency also recognized Addy Beck-Bell and Scott Walton for 10 years of service and Dave Bubar, Marci Driscoll, Candy Fletcher, Amanda McNeal-Saed, Stacey Michaud, Jenna Norton and Michael O’Beck each for five years of service.
MaineHealth announced that all of its hospitals received recognition as “2021 Gold Star Standards of Excellence Hospital and Healthcare Organization Program Awardees.” Franklin Memorial Hospital, LincolnHealth, Maine Medical Center, Mid Coast Hospital, Pen Bay Medical Center, Southern Maine Healthcare, Spring Harbor Hospital and Waldo County General Hospital were listed at the platinum level while Stephens Memorial Hospital was listed as gold.
GrowSmart Maine selected the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy in Norway as the winner of its “Outstanding Community Development Initiatives” award at its fourth annual Smart Growth Awards. The city of Lewiston, Community Concepts and Choice Neighborhood Partners, for its Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan - Growing our Tree Streets, captured the “Outstanding Plan Award,” Planner Evan Richert received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” and Portland Housing Authority’s Solterra Apartments was named the “Outstanding Project.”
RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland said Peter Hawkes was listed as the No. 4 “RE/MAX Individual Agent in Maine” and the No. 3 “RE/MAX Luxury Agent in New England” year-to-date and the Portland Maine Living Team, comprised of Colleen Bedard, Mary Levanti-Cuellar and Mary Roy, were among the “Top 5 RE/MAX Teams in Maine” in September.
