New hires

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution hired Gerard Morin as vice president, audit manager; Cathryn Clark as accounting manager; Brian Healey as information security specialist; Tabatha Moore and Erin Raychard as customer relationship officers; and Ellen Southworth as payroll and benefits specialist.

Maine Crisp, a gluten free snack company in Winslow, hired Lewis Goldstein as CEO. Previously, Goldstein was chief marketing officer at Insa, a cannabis production company.

Maine Family Federal Credit Union in Lewiston hired Dan Clarke as president/CEO.

Waterstone Properties Group hired Steven Yuen as director of marketing for Rock Row, its mixed-use development in Westbrook. Yuen was previously director of acquisition marketing for Starry.

HospitalityMaine in Augusta hired Nathen Cloutier as government affairs director. Cloutier was formerly a government affairs consultant at Eaton Peabody Consulting Group in Augusta.

Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch hired Natalie Pollock as general manager. Pollock was previously a project manager for a division of Cook & Boardman.

The Finance Authority of Maine in Augusta hired Bert Audette as chief information officer. Audette was dean of information technology at Eastern Maine Community College.

Preti Flaherty, a law firm on Portland, hired Erin Naylon as an attorney in the firm’s corporate and mergers-and-acquisitions practice.

Maine Water Co. in Saco hired Justin Edelstein as controller. Edelstein was previously a vice president at Camden National Bank.

Berry Talbot Royer, a Falmouth accounting firm, hired Mark Filler. Filler is former president of Filler & Associates in Portland.

MedRhythms Inc., a digital therapeutics company in Portland, hired Brett Adelman as program and alliance lead, neurodegeneration; Amanda Albee, engineering manager; Laura Friel, associate software engineer; Stephen Hess, vice president of product; Shanna Scribner, associate clinical operations engineer; Dave Tran, vice president of engineering; and David Yarin, alliance manager, music partnerships.

Bates College in Lewiston hired Leana Amáez as vice president for equity and inclusion. Amáez was previously global leader for diversity, equity and inclusion with Simply Business, an insurance provider in Boston.

Catholic Charities Maine hired Danielle Rodriguez as state refugee health coordinator in its Office of Maine Refugee Services. Rodriguez has 10 years of experience working in refugee health, including her work in active labor delivery monitoring and maternal health in Eastleigh and Nairobi, Kenya.

Preti Flaherty in Portland hired Erin Naylon as an attorney in the firm’s corporate and mergers-and-acquisitions practice group.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Deanna Orfanidis as chief nursing officer. Most recently, Orfanidis served as chief nursing officer for Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Vt.

Landry/French Construction in Scarborough hired Denis Garriepy as COO. Garriepy, who has 22 years of experience in commercial construction, was previously vice president of operations for Suffolk Construction.

Skowhegan Savings hired Linda Morton-Hebert as the community branch manager in its Portland Business Center. Previously, Morton-Hebert was with Society Mortgage.

The Skowhegan Regional Chamber of Commerce hired Hailey Howard as executive director. Howard was previously with the state of Maine in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Promotions

The town of Owls Head promoted Catherine Birmingham to town treasurer. Birmingham was previously administrative assistant, deputy town clerk/deputy tax collector.

Goodwill Northern New England in Gorham promoted Fran Brown to interim sales director, southern region; Debra Reynolds to residential program manager; Tammy Ames to Maine Mall store manager; and Kim Bucciantini to Portland LifeWorks manager.

Sea Bags, a Portland retailer that makes its totes and accessories out of recycled sails, promoted Tara Knupp to vice president, merchandising and product development and Sean Powers to director of operations.

The city of Bangor promoted Anne Krieg to director of development. Krieg previously served the city as planning officer.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, promoted Michael Traister to managing director and Lauren Weliver to partner. Traister, a partner, serves as chair of the firm’s construction group and co-chair of its litigation and trial practice group. Weliver practices in the firm’s trust and estate planning and administration groups.

Rudman Winchell, a law firm in Bangor, promoted Kristy Hapworth and Michael Hockenbury to partner and Candace Augustine and Stephen Wagner to senior counsel.

MaineHealth promoted Trampas Hutches to regional president for the Mountain Region, overseeing operations at Stephens Memorial Hospital/Western Maine Health Care, Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H. and Franklin Memorial Hospital/Franklin Community Health Network. Trampas was previously president at Franklin Community Health Network. Additionally, Barbara Sergio was promoted to interim president of Franklin Community Health Network. Sergio was previously COO.

Dirigo Strategies LLC, a marine consulting firm in Thomaston, promoted Victoria Mastromarino to vice president.

Preti Flaherty in Portland promoted Kristy Abraham and Mariana Baron to partner. Abraham is a member and former chair of the law firm’s corporate and mergers-and-acquisitions practice group and co-chairs the firm’s diversity committee. Baron is a member of the firm’s corporate and M&A and immigration practice groups.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury property company in Portland, promoted Andrew Lynch to CFO. Lynch was financial controller.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden promoted Dan Bookham to senior vice president for business development, Peter Williams to senior vice president for commercial lines and Susan Howland to senior vice president for human relations and operations.

UScellular promoted Douglas Nash to sales manager in Waterville, Rachel Thies to sales manager in Bangor and Kyle Burbine to retail area sales manager for the central and northern New England territory. Nash was previously an assistant manager in Brewer, Thies a retail wireless consultant in Waterville and Burbine was a store manager in Bangor.

Owls Head Transportation Museum promoted John Bottero to executive director. Bottero was previously operations director.

Appointments

The Ogunquit Museum of American Art added Cynthia Fenneman, Philip Morgan and John Shapiro to its 2023 board of directors. Fenneman formerly was CEO of American Public Television, Morgan is the retired former president and CEO of Morgan Construction Co. and Shapiro is a senior advisor to Mountain Capital Partners LLC. In addition, the museum named Karyn Morin as treasurer of its executive committee. Morin is senior vice president and branch administration/deposit operations/commercial deposits at Partners Bank.

Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce in Waterville added Jordan Rowan, Kristian Suttie, Gary Poulin, Molly Woodward and Jamie Plourde to its board. Rowan is general manager of Lockwood Hotel, Suttie is health and safety compliance for Central Maine Power, Poulin is a marketing consultant for Mix Maine Media, Woodward is relationship manager for Bangor Savings Bank and Jamie Plourde is a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate. In addition, Michelle Joler-Labbe was elected board chair; Mike Guarino, 1st vice chair; Greg Zimba, 2nd vice chair; Bruce Harrington, treasurer; Joy McKenna, past chair; Gary Levesque, director-at-large; and Garvan Donegan, ex-officio.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden added Susan Howland to its board of directors. Howland is senior vice president for human relations and operations for the firm.

Bath Savings elected Janice Latulippe to its board of trustees. Latulippe is recently retired as a principal at BerryDunn.

The Mitchell Institute, a scholarship organization in Portland, added Brian Harris, Christina Marie Lemieux and Rebecca Wyke to its board of directors. Harris is founder and CEO of MedRhythms, Lemieux is planning director at Publicis Groupe and Wyke is CEO of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth added Abdulkadir Ali, Lennie Burke, Erin Clark and Aaron Frederick as members of its Cumberland County Grantmaking Committee. Ali is advocacy director at Youth Maine Justice and artistic director with Maine Inside Out, Burke previously worked in the banking and retail energy industries, Clark is a grant manager at the John T. Gorman Foundation and Frederick is in business and leadership development and management consulting with Dialogos and Generative Capital.

Achievements

Full Plates Full Potential, a nonprofit advocacy and implementation organization dedicated to ending childhood food insecurity in Maine, was named one of the Food Research & Action Center’s “Anti-Hunger Champions of the Year.”

Hospice of Southern Maine in Scarborough named Nirav Shah its “Pope Leadership Award” winner recognizing, among other things, an individual of visionary leadership and commitment to health care quality who strives to forge partnerships for the betterment of hospice care. Shah is director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Gov. Janet Mills presented four Maine businesses with her “Governor’s Award for Business Excellence” including MedRhythms Inc., “Innovation Award;” Central Maine Motors Auto Group, “Rural Revitalization Award;” Atlantic Sea Farms, “Heritage Industry Award;” and Dirigo Solar, “Climate Leader Award.”

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins received the “Golden Plate Award” from the American Academy of Achievement and was inducted into its Achievement Museum to commemorate her public service.

KidsPeace, a social services nonprofit with a campus in Ellsworth, announced that its digital marketing communications efforts received five “Gold Awards” and one “Bronze Award” at the 2022 Healthcare Digital Marketing Awards.

Holbrook Health Center, the skilled nursing care program of Piper Shores’ lifecare retirement community in Scarborough, said that it earned a high-performance rating and “Elite” categorization for care by U.S. News & World Report for American nursing homes.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, announced that Stacey Neumann was invited to join the faculty at the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop for the second year. Neumann is a partner at the firm and chair of its criminal/white collar defense and employment practice groups.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle announced that it earned a fifth top ranking from U.S. News and World Report as part of its 2023 Best Colleges, landing 15th in the U.S. on a list of schools with the lowest cost for international students.

Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice in Lewiston named David Dixon, retired surgeon from Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, with the “2022 Heart of Hospice Award.”
