Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, hired Mike Adams, Nick Janzen and Tom LeBlond. Adams is an attorney in the firm’s real estate and finance practice group, Janzen as an attorney in its energy and telecommunications practice group and LeBlond as an attorney in its litigation practice group.

Zachau Construction in Freeport hired Santo Carter as project manager, Melissa Lobaccaro as assistant superintendent and Ben Hilfrank as a project engineer.

Rinck Advertising in Lewiston hired Maya Johnston as a graphic designer in its creators department and Kevin Mitchell as a senior account manager.

Maine Medical Partners in Portland hired Amit Sanyal as senior medical director at MaineHealth Cancer Care; Lindsay Corse at Maine Medical Partners – Falmouth Family Medicine; Robert Isom at Maine Medical Partners – Nephrology; Erica Hidu at Maine Medical Partners, Internal Medicine – Pediatric Clinic at Maine Medical Center; and Eric Black-Maier at Maine Medical Partners – MaineHealth Cardiology.

The Maine Insurance Agents Association in Hallowell hired Stephanie Brown as communications manager. Brown has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, hired Maureen Sturtevant as a member of its litigation practice. Sturtevant focuses her practice on the representation of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, as well as hospitals and private health care organizations, against professional malpractice claims.

Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor hired Hannah Young as vice president of institutional advancement and director of EMCC Foundation and Elizabeth True as vice president of student affairs. Young was previously director of development and marketing at the Bangor Public Library while True was vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Maine Maritime Academy.

Bath Savings Trust Co. hired Chris Piasecki as vice president, trust officer. Piasecki was previously a corporate attorney for Tyler Technologies in Yarmouth.

Northern Light Orthopedics in Bangor hired Megan Richards as a surgeon.

Covetrus, a Portland-based animal health services company, hired Michelle Bonfilio as chief people officer. Bonfilio was previously chief human resources at Petco Health and Wellness Co. Inc.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Anfin Erickson as a general surgeon at Franklin Health Surgery.

KeyBank in Portland hired Colin March as commercial sales leader. Most recently, March was a senior relationship manager at TD Bank.

Promotions

The Boulos Co., a commercial real estate firm in Portland, promoted Jessica Estes to president and Nate Stevens to designated broker.

The Maine Municipal Association in Augusta promoted Rebecca McMahon to director of legal services. McMahon was a staff attorney.

Landry/French Construction in Scarborough promoted Mason Rowell to vice president of preconstruction services. Rowell was previously director of preconstruction.

Appointments

Andy Irish, a founding member of the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine, was elected president of the American Logger’s Council. Irish is founder and co-owner of Irish Family Logging in Peru.

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said attorney Elizabeth Connellan Smith was elected president of National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network.

Ken Albert, president and CEO of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice in Lewiston, was appointed to serve on the National Hospice Special Focus Program Technical Expert Panel.

Camden National Corp., parent company of Camden National Bank, added Rebecca Hatfield as a director and a member of the capital committee of the bank’s board of directors. Hatfield is president and CEO of Avesta Housing.

Achievements

Maine Medical Center in Portland said its nursing team earned the American Nurses Credential Center Magnet Recognition, the gold standard for nursing quality, recognizing health care organizations that both demonstrate nursing excellence and disseminate successful nursing practices status, for a fourth consecutive time.

Amee Rice, a senior account manager at Clark Insurance in Portland, was honored with the “2022 Award of Excellence” designation from Safeco Insurance Co.

The University of Maine at Farmington announced that it received a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 from Campus Pride, an LGBTQ national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create safer, more inclusive campus communities.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine’s HMO/POS plan was rated 4.5 out of 5 in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s commercial Health Plan Ratings for 2022.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust was named the “2022 Business Partner of the Year” by Mount Desert Island Hospital. The bank also recognized employees for extraordinary leadership. Kristin Shaw, senior vice president commercial lending support manager, and Daryl Wentworth, senior vice president, director middle market banking, were named the “Chairman’s Award” winners. “Emerging Leader Awards” were presented to Justin Chapman, vice president, financial planning and analysis; Vreni Gust, vice president, product and segment marketing manager; Laurel Hansen, vice president, residential lending manager; and Nicholas Harvey, vice president, appraisal manager.

The Maine Municipal Association in Augusta announced the winners of its 2022 Annual Report Competition. In the Under 500 Category the town of Cranberry Isles was named “supreme,” Kingsbury Plantation “superior” and the town of Dyer Brook “excellence.” In the 500 to 999 Category the town of Carrabassett Valley was “supreme,” the town of Islesboro “superior” and the town of Starks “excellence.” In the 1,000 to 2,499 Category the town of Mount Desert was “supreme,” the town of Ogunquit “superior” and the town of Rangeley “excellence.” In the 2,500 to 4,999 Category the town of Mechanic Falls was “supreme,” the town of Rockport “superior” and the town of China “excellence;” and in the 5,000 and over Category the town of Freeport was “supreme,” the city of Waterville “superior” and the town of Lincoln “excellence.”

The Maine Small Business Development Centers selected Raynor Large as the “2022 State Star.” Large is a business advisor at the Maine SBDC at Coastal Enterprises Inc. in Brunswick.

Jess Maurer, executive director of the Maine Council on Aging in Brunswick, was named to the “2022 Class of Encore Network Champions” by The Encore Network. The honor goes to those who have been advocating for and building partnerships among organizations and individuals who champion the civic, social and economic contributions of people 50-plus.

Fortune rated the city of South Portland No. 1 in New England and 13th in the U.S. on its “25 Best Places to Live for Families” list.

The U.S. Department of Labor renewed “Star Level” designation to Huber Engineered Woods LLC in Easton for workplace safety and health achievements.

Josh Soley, president of Maine Realty Advisors in Portland, received the SIOR designation and was admitted into the New England Chapter of the Society of Office and Industrial Realtors. In addition, Ben Spencer, vice president, successfully brokered five self-storage facilities, totaling 78,000 square feet, in Q3 of 2022.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor said it received a validation recertificate for five consecutive years of Safe Care: Obstetrics.
