Portside Real Estate Group continues expansion

Portside Real Estate Group, which has served Cumberland County since opening seven years ago, is expanding to York County with the launch of an office at 149 Port Road in Kennebunk.

Portside had growth of 39% from 2018 to 2019, according to a news release. Owner Dava Davin chooses new locations based on market potential. After launching an office in Cape Elizabeth last year, Portside saw a jump from in market share, she said.

“Elevating the real estate experience for both agents and clients has opened the doors for growth and expansion,” Davin said. “As the leading independent company in Cumberland County, we expect to develop just as strong of a presence here in York County."

Portside opened its Kennebunk office Dec. 30, collaborating with Becky Bassett and Grainne Archer of the Bassett Team, which has been the top firm in Kennebunk from 2016-19 for total units and volume sold.

“York County is growing and changing,” Bassett said in the release. “As we look to the next 10 years, we know that the robust marketing team, creativity and community engagement Portside is known for is a perfect match for our team.”

Tight inventory

Portside Real Estate Group owner Dava Davin has steadily grown the business since its founding in 2012.

As 2019 draws to a close, inventory across southern Maine continues to be tight, while housing prices are showing steady growth. In Cumberland and York counties, the median sales price of existing homes increased 7.81% and 5.14% respectively, according to the Maine Real Estate Statistics year-to-date report. Davin said this means a heightened need for skilled realtors.

“We are in a market where real estate agents need to be creative problem-solvers,” said Davin. “Buyers will have fewer homes to choose from, but they still need to love the home they buy. While sellers will see an advantage, sales will continue to be multi-layered as the baby boomers begin to transition from single-family homes to condos and retirement communities.”

Davin, a 2018 Mainebiz Woman to Watch, founded Portside Real Estate Group in Falmouth in 2012. Since then, she’s expanded to Portland, Yarmouth and Cape Elizabeth, and in 2017 completed construction of a new headquarters at 417 U.S. Route 1 in Falmouth.
