Promotions at Zachau Construction bring financing and passive house expertise

Zachau Construction, a general contractor in Freeport, promoted four employees who have backgrounds in passive house construction, L.L.Bean projects and affordable housing development.

Adam Routhier was promoted to vice president of project finance and oversees the nuanced financing associated with projects. He also continues to act as a project executive on complex projects.

Adam Routhier

Routhier received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Maine Orono and a master of business administration from Curtin University in Australia. He joined Zachau in 2016 and has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. As a Passive House Institute US certified builder, he has completed a number of passive house projects, notably including, Front Street Redevelopment, The Ecology School and Wolfe’s Neck Center. 

Charlie Zachau was promoted to director of special projects, in alignment with the company’s continued growth, according to a news release. The special projects division was established in 2024 to focus on custom residential and tailored commercial projects. He joined the company in 2012, has held various positions, and has been an integral part of L.L.Bean projects.

Charlie Zachau

Tim Hanley, who joined Zachau Construction in 2023, was promoted to preconstruction manager. A graduate of Bowdoin and a native Mainer, he spent the past year with Zachau working as a project manager on a few of Zachau’s more complex projects, including an affordable housing development and a project on a shipyard. He has prior experience in Boston with a developer/builder.

Andrew Veilleux was promoted to project engineer. Veilleux joined Zachau in 2022 as a foreman on the Mercy Hospital redevelopment and then went on to work on two Community Housing of Maine projects, Equinox and Winter Landing. He is currently working on the Butler Road Condos, a housing project in Boothbay.
