Seafood plant to expand in Eastport

A seafood processing operation affiliated with two out-of-state investors is expected to open this spring in Eastport.

The company, Campobello Holdings, plans to invest nearly $500,000 to create a processing company that will freeze, package, store and export lobster and other seafood items, according to the Bangor Daily News and a press release from state officials. The operation is expected to begin in April and within two years employ 15.

The company is affiliated with George Klapischak of New Jersey and Jimmy Wong of New York City, according to the BDN. Klapischak is an international businessman and Wong has more than 20 years of experience in the seafood business and currently exports lobsters to international customers. Klapischak told the newspaper the Eastport facility will expand  Wong's operation with better quality and larger quantities of seafood.

State officials worked with the company to provide resources and incentives, according to the state press release.
