Some flux in Washington Avenue’s restaurant scene
Roustabout, a Washington Avenue restaurant, closed its doors this week, but another venue is set to open.
The Portland corridor has seen redevelopment in recent years, but is still evolving.
Kathleen Pierce in the Bangor Daily News reported that Roustabout opened at 59 Washington Ave. with fanfare, but lasted just 15 months.
At the same time, Massachusetts-based Island Creek Oysters plans to open a restaurant not far away, at 123 Washington Ave. Island Creek has a location near Boston’s Kenmore Square and one in Burlington, Mass.
