State appoints fishery and wildlife chiefs

Two men have been tapped to lead Maine's fisheries and wildlife bureaus.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife announced yesterday that Michael Brown will head its fisheries division, and James Connolly will direct its wildlife division.

Brown, a Bath native, will leave his post as a marine resource scientist at the Department of Marine Resources, where he's worked for more than two decades, addressing the management and sustainability of marine and anadromous fish in Maine and New England, according to a press release from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Connolly, a regional wildlife biologist, started at the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in 1980. He had been serving as the acting director for the wildlife division since September.
