Systems Engineering Inc., a managed IT and security services provider with a Portland office, has promoted its director of finance and administration to the position of chief financial officer.
Eric Tennyson, who joined Systems Engineering in 2017, is a former finance manager at WEX and also worked as a finance analyst at Bank of America.
He will continue to be responsible for all financial and operational matters at Systems Engineering, including the administration of the firm's employee stock ownership plan.
“I'm excited for what the future holds for Systems Engineering and the employee-owners and to continue building on the investments and the infrastructure we’ve created over the past five years,” said Tennyson.
His knowledge of ESOP administration was crucial in helping fellow employee-owners understand their individual contributions and their impact on the company's value, according to a prepared release. The contribution has been attributed to nearly doubling the firm's share price since 2017.
Before joining the engineering firm, Tennyson was the director of international finance, manager of corporate development and finance manager at WEX. He also worked as a finance analyst at Bank of America. Tennyson received his degree in business, administration and finance from the University of Maine.
“Eric has had a profound effect on our financial and operational posture and has been a tremendous partner to all parts of the business,” said Matt McGrath, Systems Engineering's president and CEO. “He keeps employee-owners and sustainability at the forefront of his decision-making. Our ability to plan and communicate confidently is made possible primarily through the modeling and financial management Eric has instituted within the organization.”
Systems Engineering is 100% employee-owned, with offices in Portland and Manchester, N.H., and has a team of 175 network engineers, managed security professionals, project managers, data management experts and account managers.
