Significant professional accomplishment: I’m proud to have been able to open the first and only soul food restaurant in the entire state of Maine.
Passion project: Coming from the Bronx in New York City, I can relate to the everyday struggle and hardships that less-fortunate members of the community experience. I provide food when I can, no matter what a person is going through at that moment to bring them some happiness.
Audacious goal: I want to bring back the Sunday family dinner tradition through my business. Growing up, we had Sunday dinners with the whole family. As the years pass, between busy schedules and electronics, this tradition is fading. I want people to come to my establishment and remember how important family dinners truly are.
Favorite quote: “It doesn›t matter where you’re from. You can be from the ’hood or the suburbs. You can be poor with no education or a college graduate. No matter your background, you can win.” — Lil B
Influential book: The Bible
Favorite movies/TV shows: I love any movie with Martin Lawrence; “Martin” is my favorite show.
How do you recharge: I sit and talk to the people I love, which helps me remember why I do what I do — to make the lives of those around me better.
