Mount Desert Island Hospital has named Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as its 2022 "Business Partner of the Year" for its ongoing support.
The award recognizes the bank's support of MDI Hospital's programs and the services provided to the community.
"After stepping up last year to support a vital COVID-19 testing initiative for local schools, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust's partnership has continued as a lead sponsor of the hospital's 125th Anniversary Celebration this year and as a major contributor to the hospital's new MRI unit," said Chrissi Maguire, MDI Hospital's president and CEO. "Their support has been vital to hospital efforts to care for the community throughout the pandemic, and their partnership has been steadfast."
Both institutions have a long history in Bar Harbor.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust was established in 1887, and MDI Hospital began operating in 1897.
The two organizations have partnered on a range of projects over the years.
Bar Harbor Bank recently made a $60,000 gift to support the hospital's first fixed-place MRI system. It also donated the $15,000 in proceeds from the 2021 David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament to the hospital's new MRI system.

Bar Harbor Bankshares (NYSE American: BHB) is the parent company of its wholly owned subsidiary, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. The has $3.6 billion in assets and operates over 50 locations across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
It is the third-largest Maine-based bank, based on assets, according to the Mainebiz Book of Lists.
