Company recalls water bottles
A Yarmouth company has voluntarily recalled about 18,000 metal water bottles after lead was found in the surface paint on the bottles.
Downeast Concepts Inc. discovered the lead in laboratory tests in late January on the "Backyard and Beyond" metal water bottles, which were manufactured in China and sold in stores nationwide between February 2006 and February 2008.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported no incidents or injuries from the water bottles, a press release states. Downeast Concepts also recalled 400 toy rakes made in China last month after tests revealed unsafe lead paint levels on them, the Portland Press Herald reported.
