Controversial coffee shop reopens

The owner of the topless coffee shop in Vassalboro that burned in June has gotten the town's approval to reopen in a temporary facility.

Donald Crabtree planned to reopen the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop in an office trailer today, after the planning board voted 3-0 to amend his permit, according to the Morning Sentinel. The controversial coffee shop burned to the ground June 3 in a fire that was intentionally set, and in July the planning board approved the construction of a new building. Crabtree will be able to operate the coffee shop in the trailer until the new building is completed.

The temporary shop will help Crabtree finance the removal of the fire debris and construction of the new facility, according to the paper.
