Ellsworth hospital names new CEO

Maine Coast Memorial Hospital has named longtime hospital exec John J. McCormack to lead the organization on an interim basis, according to the Ellsworth American.
McCormack, former CEO at Cary Medical Center in Caribou, replaces Doug Jones, who stepped down as CEO last week to take the temporary top post at Down East Community Hospital in Machias, which is in dire straits after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services informed the hospital that as of July 10 it would no longer be eligible for Medicare reimbursements because of chronic problems at the hospital.
DECH's former CEO, Wayne Dodwell, was put on administrative leave June 26, just hours after the hospital received the news from the federal government.
