Maine Manufacturing adds another GE line

Sanford-based Maine Manufacturing has acquired another product line from GE, marking a transition for the company from a contract manufacturer to a direct supplier.

The Bangor Daily News reported that the Maine company on Thursday announced the acquisition of contamination test products used by the food and beverage industry from GE Healthcare. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In December, Maine Manufacturing separately acquired laboratory filter and membrane product lines from GE. That move added 65 employees to the company, at two manufacturing facilities in Westborough, Mass.

Previously, the company was a contract manufacturer with GE Healthcare as its sole customer, the paper reported. Company President Bill Emhiser said the transition means the company will now have 500 customers to sell to directly.
