The RAM Cos., a Scarborough-based acquisition, development and management firm, closed this week on a $10.1 million purchase of two properties in the Boston suburbs.
According to a company release, the acquisitions are a 65,912-square-foot flex/light manufacturing building at 35 Dunham Road in Billerica, and a 54,884-square-foot office and research-and-development building at 734 Forest St. in Marlborough.
Both properties offer quick access to Routes 128 and 9 as well as Interstates 90, 95 and 290, he said. The deals, brokered by Doug Jacoby of Colliers, closed Feb. 15.
According to the release, the recent purchases are part of the company’s ongoing strategy of identifying and acquiring high-quality, income-producing commercial and industrial properties.
The recent acquisition is just the latest of the firm’s suburban Boston properties. Last April, the firm paid $8.1 million for 261 and 267 Boston Road, also in Billerica, Mass. The 97,403-square-foot property, known as Corporate Place, is not far from the Northwest Expressway corridor, and is anchored by a medical center.
RAM was founded in 1982 by Howard Goldenfarb, who is credited with sparking the revival of Portland's Old Port in the 1970s, buying and redeveloping more than 20 properties, including historic buildings.
His projects include the Maine Outlet in Kittery, Citicorp Park in South Portland, Foreside Common in Falmouth and RiverPlace in South Portland.
