SMRT Architects and Engineers, Maine’s largest architecture and engineering firm, has promoted Jeana Stewart and Philip Chaney to principals and Chuck Dudas to associate principal.
Jeana Stewart, principal, is the director of SMRT’s workplace practice and a nationally certified interior designer. In that role, she strives to ensure that the workspace and the design process speak directly to an organization’s culture, values and financial goals.
Stewart's portfolio includes projects for clients such as L.L.Bean, Aroma Joe’s and Hannaford. She has been published in High-Profile Monthly, a trade publication. She received her bachelor’s degree in interior design from Mount Ida College.
Philip Chaney, principal, has over 14 years of experience and has contributed to numerous award-winning architectural projects across New England.
His work includes projects such as the Bangor Region YMCA, the Roux Institute campus, the University of Southern Maine Residence Hall and McGoldrick Center for Career and Student Success, and the University of New England's Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences. Chaney received his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Northeastern University.
Chuck Dudas, associate principal, has over 18 years of mechanical design and construction experience across various project types.
He has been designing high-performance, energy-efficient mechanical systems throughout his career, including Net-Zero, LEED Platinum and Passive House Certified projects.
His work includes notable projects such as the UMaine Green Energy and Materials Building, the Tyler Technologies offices in Orono, the Mount Desert Island Hospital Central Utility Plant and Our Island Home. Dudas earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Messiah College.
SMRT Architects and Engineers, which is headquartered at 75 Washington Ave. in Portland, is Maine's largest architecture firm, with 23 licensed architects and 105 employees, according to the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists. The firm reported revenue of $29.2 million in 2022.
