Buffalo Wild Wings will open a takeout and delivery eatery in South Portland’s Millcreek Plaza, close to South Portland House of Pizza and a McDonald's.
While Buffalo Wild Wings already has four full-service locations in Maine — in Auburn, Bangor and Topsham and at 85 Western Ave. in South Portland — the new Buffalo Wild Wings GO spot will be the first of its kind in the state.
Atlanta-based Buffalo Wild Wings is a national chain of casual restaurants, best known for Buffalo-style chicken wings. It is owned by the private equity firm Inspire Brands, which also owns the Dunkin', Arby's, Sonic, Jimmy Johns and Baskin Robbins brands.
At Millcreek, at 180 Waterman Drive, Buffalo Wild Wings GO will employ 25 people and offer a variety of wings with 26 signature sauces and seasonings. Details on the opening date were not immediately available.
The 1,876-square foot space, which has been vacant for some time, will feature a streamlined, modern design with a walk-up counter, digital menu boards and limited seating.
The Boulos Co.'s Jessica Estes and Claire Richardson represented the landlord in the lease transaction and Derek Miller represented the tenant.
“This location will allow them [Buffalo Wild Wings] to service downtown Portland and Cape Elizabeth via delivery in addition to their takeout business in South Portland," Miller told Mainebiz. "Their Western Avenue South Portland location is a very strong one for them, and this will allow them to service another area of South Portland with a lot of residential density.”
As for Millcreek Plaza, he said, “The center has been thoughtfully renovated and updated in recent years and I feel that has paid dividends in attracting new tenants. All of the in-line retail spaces have new storefronts and the mix of food retail should complement each other nicely and boost sales for all."
The South Portland franchise of Buffalo Wild Wings is owned by Maine Wings ToGo LLC.
