Verso Bucksport mill back online

Verso Paper is planning to restart its Bucksport paper mill, bringing all four of its paper machines online for the first time since November.

Crews will begin working to restart the mill on Thursday and continue through the weekend, according to the Bangor Daily News. The No. 2 paper machine, which makes specialty paper and has been idle since November, will restart May 15 and run for two weeks, bringing the mill's entire staff of 760 employees temporarily back to work. The mill has been idled for three weeks for a multimillion-dollar maintenance and upgrade project, Bill Cohen, a Verso spokesman, told the paper.

Since last year, Verso has been shutting down work at its mill in Bucksport to balance inventory with demand, and in February the company furloughed its workers and idled the mill for two weeks, according to the paper.
