Brunswick seeks grant for Oxford Aviation

The town of Brunswick has received the green light to apply for a grant to help Oxford Aviation open a new location at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Town officials recently submitted a letter of intent to apply for a Community Development Block Grant and received approval from the program's administrators to file a formal application, according to The Times Record. The $200,000 grant will help fund a facility at BNAS that would allow Oxford Aviation to paint large aircraft. The company is also seeking a grant of up to $500,000 from the Maine Rural Development Authority to pay for the $700,000 painting facility, Oxford Aviation officials told the paper.

Brunswick town councilors must approve the application and hold a public hearing before the application deadline of June 5.
